Just a few facts on the twilight zone, by Rod Sterling.
There were 156 episodes that were aired thru the
years. An there were 171 episodes started 15 did not
meet Mr. Sterlings expectations or were not finished.
of those only about 6 partials were ever
found.
Over the years that the twilight zone aired you can
tell some differances. If you watch them today you
can tell the low tech effects. Mostly done with a
camera or fishing line and wire, you can see some
use of tin foil, magnets and lens filters and lighting.
Whats amazing is when these were aired how very
beleivable they were. Mr. Sterling was way before
his time in his way of thinking and writing, directing
and producing.
You can tell the older episodes, from the newer ones,
simply by listing to the intro.
The first intro went like this:
1st Intro-
There is a fifth dimension beyond that which is known to man, it is a dimension as vast as space and timeless as infinity, it is the middle ground between light an shadow, between science and superstition, and it lies between the pit of mans fear's and the summit of his knowledge, this is the dimension of imagination. It is an area which we call the Twilight Zone.
2nd Intro (and most used)
You're traveling though another dimension, a dimension not only of sight and sound but of mind. A journey into a wondrous land whose boundaries are that of imagination. Your next stop, the Twilight Zone.
3rd Intro (used in last two seasons)
You unlock the door with the key of imagination, beyond it is another dimension, a dimension of sound, a dimension of sight, a dimension of mind. You're moving into a land of both shadow and substance, of things and ideas, you have just crossed over into the Twilight Zone.
Many today still watch the B&W twilight zone episodes as he presented
them in the years past.
